Job Description

This role supports EA-18G programs by developing and maintaining embedded real-time software for the Growler Block 1 and Growler Block 2 platforms. You will work as part of a collaborative software team, contributing across the full software development life cycle in a highly technical defense environment. The position is primarily on-site at Naval Air Warfare Center Point Mugu and an associated engineering office, where you will work closely with cross-functional teams and customer stakeholders.

Responsibilities

* Design, develop, and maintain embedded real-time system software for EA-18G Growler Block 1 and Block 2 programs.

* Work in an Agile environment as an active member of a scrum team, participating in planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.

* Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve software and system defects, ensuring stability, performance, and reliability of delivered solutions.

* Collaborate closely with customer representatives, internal engineering sites, and multidisciplinary teams to clarify requirements and align technical solutions.

* Participate in and contribute to peer code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, and compliance with project standards.

* Support and present at critical milestone reviews and technical interchange meetings, clearly communicating technical status, risks, and design decisions.

* Use project-specific tools such as Rational Clear Case, Clear Quest, DOORS, Git, Bitbucket, Jira, and Confluence to manage requirements, configuration, and workflow.

* Implement software using higher-order languages such as C, C++, C#, and Python, following object-oriented design principles where applicable.

* Develop and debug software on Green Hills Integrity RTOS as well as Windows and Linux environments.

* Contribute to full software life cycle activities on large-scale, formal Department of Defense programs, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, test, and maintenance.

* Support Electronic Warfare system development and design tasks by implementing and integrating software components that meet system performance and interface requirements.

Essential Skills

* Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) with 5-10 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in a STEM field with 3 years of relevant experience.

* Hands-on experience developing software in at least one higher-order programming language such as C, C++, or C#.

* Solid knowledge of object-oriented software development principles and their practical application.

* Experience with version control systems such as Git, Bitbucket, or Clear Case for source code management and collaboration.

* Ability to function effectively as a member of an integrated, cross-functional engineering team.

* Experience working across the full software development life cycle on large-scale, formal Department of Defense programs.

* Experience developing real-time embedded software, including debugging and performance optimization in constrained environments.

* Experience working in an Agile development environment, contributing to iterative planning and delivery.

* Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal form with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

* Active or interim DoD Secret Clearance or higher, with eligibility to maintain such clearance.

* United States citizenship.

* Experience programming in C++ on complex, safety- or mission-critical systems.

* Experience with Electronic Warfare system development and design, including integration of software with EW hardware and sensors.

* Familiarity with Agile tools and workflows using Jira and Confluence for task tracking and documentation.

* Experience using requirements management tools such as DOORS to capture, trace, and verify system and software requirements.

* Experience using configuration and change management tools such as Rational Clear Case and Clear Quest.

* Experience developing and debugging software on Green Hills Integrity RTOS.

* Experience developing and supporting software on Windows and Linux operating systems.

Work Environment

You will work primarily on-site at a naval air warfare facility and an associated engineering office, contributing to mission-critical defense programs in a structured, security-focused environment. The team follows Agile practices and uses a modern toolchain that includes Git, Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, DOORS, Rational Clear Case, and Clear Quest.
