Hours: MTTHF 7:40-8:10 AM & 2:20-2:50 PM; W 7:40-8:10 AM & 11:50-12:20 PM

Salary: $22.69 - $24.07

Purpose: This position is responsible for the safety of children as they arrive and are dismissed from school.

Essential Functions
  • Ensure the safety of students as they arrive and leave school, assisting them at crosswalks and sidewalks near the school.
  • Work with student safety patrols, supervising them as needed.
  • Maintain school patrol equipment.
  • Be observant of traffic, being able to identify vehicles as needed to report any problems.
  • Have knowledge of local traffic regulations.
  • Supervise students as needed.
  • Perform first aid as needed in the event of an emergency.
  • Other related duties as requested to ensure the safety of students.

    Professional Qualifications
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Experience working with children, preferably in an educational environment.
    • Acquire and maintain first aid/CPR certification.
    • Basic computer skills to include use of MS Office software.
    • Must be willing to be flexible and do additional related jobs as assigned.
    Physical Requirements
    • Stand for long periods of time.
    • Stoop, bend, walk, run.
    • Work in noisy environments.
    • Physically assist students.
    • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
    • Work outdoors in all types of weather.

    Work Environment: The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands:
    Generally, the job requires 10% sitting, 50% walking, and 40% standing. The job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

    Benefits

    School Employee Benefit Board (SEBB) Eligibility determination:
    All eligibility determinations are based on rules in Chapters 182‑30 and 182‑31 of the Washington Administrative Code (WAC). If the position is anticipated to work a minimum of 630 hours in a school year, then that position would be deemed benefit eligible. SEBB benefits include medical, vision, dental, long‑term disability and life insurance. Supplemental coverages are also available.

    Retirement Eligibility determination: A certificated position participates in the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) which requires at least 5 months of 70 or more hours of compensated employment during a school year to be eligible for Washington State Retirement. A classified position participates in the School Employee Retirement System (SERS) if the position is expected to require at least 5 months of 70 hours or more for two consecutive years (initially) of employment.
