General PurposeThe High School Associate Principal provides collaborative, responsive, and equity-centered leadership in partnership with the Principal and administrative team. This role supports a thriving, inclusive high school environment focused on academic achievement, instructional leadership, positive school culture, and student well-being. The Associate Principal fosters a safe and supportive school environment by working closely with students, staff, families, and the community.
Essential Functions Instructional Leadership & Student Achievement- In alignment with the Principal, co-lead a school-wide culture of learning that promotes high expectations for student achievement.
- Guide teachers in implementing effective, culturally responsive instructional strategies aligned with district and state standards.
- Use data-driven decision-making to monitor student progress and improve instructional practices.
- Knowledgeable in Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports.
- Support and facilitate Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to enhance teacher collaboration and effectiveness.
- Ensure inclusive programming and access for students receiving special education services and multilingual learners.
- Provide coaching, supervision, and feedback to staff to strengthen instructional practices.
- Keeps the principal informed of current developments as they may relate to the Associate Principal's realm of responsibility and, when in question, acquires prior approval of any procedures, practices, or programs contemplated.
- Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive school environment where all students and staff feel valued, respected, and connected.
- Promote and model professionalism, collaboration, and mutual respect among students, staff, and families.
- Implement culturally responsive practices that support equity and close opportunity gaps.
- Recognize and celebrate the diverse achievements and contributions of students, staff, and the school community.
- Lead and support student behavior systems, including restorative practices and positive behavior supports that align with district policies.
- Support the day-to-day operations of the school, ensuring a safe, effective, and welcoming learning environment.
- Supervise and evaluate assigned staff, fostering a culture of professional growth and continuous improvement.
- Assist in managing human and fiscal resources aligned with school improvement goals as directed by the school principal.
- Provide leadership and support in student discipline, attendance, and general supervision across the school campus.
- Coordinate school activities, student programs, and extracurricular events as assigned to promote student engagement and school spirit.
- Collaborate with custodial and facilities staff to maintain a safe and clean learning environment.
- Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal policies and procedures.
- Build and maintain strong, supportive relationships with families, staff, and community partners.
- Communicate effectively and consistently with students, staff, and families through various platforms.
- Support the development and coordination of the school calendar, ensuring alignment with district initiatives and school priorities.
- Participate as part of the district leadership team and take on leadership responsibilities that support shared goals across the district.
- Actively contribute to district-wide initiatives and collaborative leadership efforts.
- Ability to identify and resolve challenges effectively and collaboratively.
- Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills.
- Capacity to prioritize tasks and manage responsibilities in a fast-paced school setting.
- Adaptability to changing needs and competing priorities.
