Job Summary
We are seeking a part‑time Substitute Teacher to teach in a classical and Catholic classroom for up to 14 hours per week at the center near Portland, Oregon in Camas, Washington. The substitute is called as needed when staff are absent and may decline if not available.
Responsibilities- Teach up to 14 hours per week in a classical and Catholic classroom.
- Assist with classroom management and follow curriculum and grading guidelines provided by RCA.
- Attend mandatory training before beginning work and comply with background check and RCA Safe Child training.
- No teaching certification or formal teaching experience required.
- Experience homeschooling, working with homeschool children, Catholic ministry, teaching Religious Education or Catechism, or teaching in a classical/private school is preferred but not required.
- Strong communication skills, good organization, timeliness, traditional view of the student/teacher relationship.
- Must be living the Catholic faith day‑to‑day and have received all sacraments appropriate to his or her state in life.
- Must be able to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church.
Hours are Mondays and Thursdays 8:45 am – 3:15 pm during the academic year. Positions are hourly. Childcare/nursery is provided. Vacation and Holy Days are listed on the website; no additional vacation days are given. Training sessions are held on August 11, 12, or 13 2026 (TBD). No childcare is provided on training days, but nursing babies are welcome.
Hiring ProcessAll staff complete a background check and RCA Safe Child training prior to teaching. Applicants are required to have a clear background check.
