Control Systems Engineer III

• Annual salary range: $109,000 – $132,000, with a full range up to $155,000 based on experience, equity, and career progression
• Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

The Control Systems Engineer III will lead the design and execution of moderately complex control systems, defining requirements, interfacing directly with clients, and guiding junior engineers.

• Architect, design, develop, and implement custom controls and vision system solutions.
• Program, network, commission, analyze, diagnose, and debug control systems with a wide variety of hardware including PLCs, microprocessors, motion controllers, HMIs, robots, servo drives, VFDs, steppers, induction motors, vision systems, and sensors.
• Specify control components and support creation of the bill of materials.
• Design control systems to meet UL 508A, UL 61010, and NFPA 79 regulatory standards.
• Support the creation of electrical wiring and cable diagrams; assist the Lab during electrical enclosure builds.
• Assist in writing and reviewing system specification documents; support the creation of operations manuals.
• Test and validate, performing FAT, SAT, and onsite training.
• Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information‑security incidents.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 7+ years experience integrating complex mechanical‑electrical systems.
• Programming of PLCs, safety PLCs, motion controllers, and HMIs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Yaskawa, Kollmorgen, Beckhoff, IFM, etc.).
• Sizing/selecting circuit protectors, wiring, cables, sensors, controllers, system I/O, drives and motors.
• Integrating and programming vision systems (Cognex, Keyence, iRVision, etc.), robots (ABB, Fanuc, Yaskawa, Omron, etc.), and other devices for custom‑designed equipment or work cells.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Solid Works, AutoCAD Electric, EPlan).
• Strong understanding of closed‑loop control, instrumentation, control systems, enclosure design, and safety codes and regulations (UL 508A, NFPA 79, UL 61010, etc.).
• Demonstrated track record of working as part of a cross‑functional team to deliver results with exceptional quality, on time, on budget, and meeting customer needs.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively, both within and outside one’s own work group.
• Professional demeanor when interfacing with clients and team members.

Standard office environment with usual office‑related conditions. Occasionally required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments to facilitate design testing and validation. Occasional travel to other facilities, clients, or suppliers may be required.
