Position Overview:
As our Business Development Manager, you will lead the preparation and delivery of proposal packages, including cost estimates, schedules, risk registers, and customer-facing commercial documents. You will provide commercial support for proposals and contract changes, ensuring consistency across the NPG division and adherence to corporate governance requirements. You will manage a team of Proposal Managers and Contract Managers and coordinate with multiple stakeholders to deliver major proposal submissions successfully.

Your Day to Day as our Business Development Manager:

  • Lead the preparation of proposals for major bids in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Direct functional areas in preparing sections of proposals and supporting documentation.
  • Chair Pricing Approval Request meetings and oversee turnover of proposal documentation to project teams.
  • Provide direction to procurement for sourcing strategies that reduce costs and mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with Account Management, Business Line Managers, and Legal to develop and implement commercial strategies during proposal development.
  • Lead or participate in contract negotiations with customers and prepare stakeholder-reviewed correspondence.
  • Oversee cost estimate preparation, benchmarking, and internal risk management plans.
  • Guide the evaluation and development of Terms and Conditions to balance competitiveness and risk.
  • Supervise Proposal Managers, Contract Managers, and Customer Services Representatives, including recruiting, coaching, and performance reviews.
  • Develop and maintain standardized processes, procedures, templates, and risk management registers to ensure consistency across the organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma;
    Engineering, Technical, or MBA preferred.
  • Five to ten years of relevant experience in proposal management or project management.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles and practices.
  • Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and dispute-resolution skills.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong understanding of commercial Terms and Conditions.
  • Leadership skills including planning, delegation, accountability, and change management.
  • Willingness to travel and work under pressure to meet tight schedules.
  • PMP designation or working toward certification is an asset.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while thriving in a team environment.
