As a Chartered Business Valuator (CBV), you’ll play a crucial role in helping businesses understand their true worth, empowering them to make informed decisions about sales, purchases, or investments. As a CBV you will be responsible for providing independent, objective valuations of businesses, shares, and intangible assets. This role supports a variety of engagements and applies advanced financial analysis, valuation methodologies, and professional judgment to deliver accurate and defensible conclusions.
Job Duties
Collect and analyze financial records of a business, such as financial statements, budgets, projections and sales data, to assess its competitiveness or to estimate its market value.
Perform valuations of private companies, securities, and intangible assets.
Prepare comprehensive valuation reports for purposes such as buy / sell transactions, tax planning, financial reporting, marriage contracts, cohabitation agreements, separation agreements, and litigation
Collect, review, and independently analyze financial statements, general ledgers, tax filings, budgets, forecasts, and supporting documents to assess business performance and support valuation conclusions.
Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to clients, management, and stakeholders.
Present valuation conclusions and respond to technical inquiries.
Build and maintain strong client relationships.
Ensure all work complies with the standards of the CBV Institute and applicable regulatory requirements.
Stay current on changes in valuation practices, tax legislation, and financial reporting standards.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field
The following post graduate designations:
CPA Designation; and
CBV Designation
OR
CPA Designation;
Currently enrolled in the CBV Program of Studies; and
1–3 years of experience in public accounting (assurance or tax), corporate finance, or business valuation.
Excellent written and communication skills; ability to communicate technical concepts via written reports.
Must be highly organized, detail-oriented and possess well-developed project management skills.
Ability to adhere to and meet reporting deadlines.
Ability to work well independently and within a team environment.
Compensation
Expected Salary Range : $100,000 to $150,000, commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications and internal equity.
