The Opportunity:

Our client is a well-established Canadian mechanical and electrical engineering consulting firm with more than 33 years of expertise in building performance, energy systems, decarbonization, and net-zero design. Trusted by municipalities, institutional organizations, and public-sector clients across Ontario, the firm has built a reputation for delivering practical, construction-ready engineering solutions that reduce energy consumption, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and improve building performance.

As the firm enters its next phase of growth, we are seeking a President to lead the organization strategically, commercially, and financially. This is a unique opportunity for a growth-minded leader to expand the firm's presence within the private sector while leveraging its established technical excellence and strong public-sector reputation.

The successful candidate will drive business development, oversee firm-wide operations and financial performance, and position the organization as a leading partner for building owners navigating energy transition, decarbonization, and infrastructure modernization.

What You'll Be Doing:

Lead the firm's expansion into private-sector markets including commercial real estate, industrial, healthcare, multi-residential, retail, post-secondary, and institutional sectors.

Leverage an existing network of building owners, developers, property managers, REITs, and asset managers to generate new business opportunities.

Develop strategic relationships with contractors, consultants, and industry partners that influence project opportunities.

Maintain and grow existing municipal and public-sector relationships while diversifying revenue streams.

Establish and achieve annual revenue and profitability targets.

Develop and manage a structured sales pipeline, proposal process, and client relationship strategy.

Identify new service offerings and market opportunities aligned with client demand and industry trends.

Represent the company at industry events, associations, and networking functions.

Assume full P&L responsibility for the organization, including revenue, margins, project profitability, and EBITDA performance.

Develop and execute annual business plans and long-term growth strategies.

Lead, mentor, and retain a high-performing team of engineering and technical professionals.

Ensure the organization has the resources, systems, and talent required to support continued growth.

Provide regular reporting and strategic updates to ownership.

Strengthen the firm's market position as a trusted advisor in building performance, energy efficiency, HVAC systems, and decarbonization.

Monitor industry trends, government funding programs, incentive opportunities, and regulatory changes that create business opportunities.

Drive thought leadership initiatives that increase market visibility and enhance the company's brand.

What You'll Need to Be Successful:

10+ years of progressive leadership experience within engineering consulting, energy services, building systems, design-build, sustainability consulting, or a related technical services environment.

Demonstrated success developing new business and growing revenue through client acquisition and relationship management.

Established network within Ontario's commercial, industrial, institutional, or real estate sectors.

Experience managing financial performance, budgets, and business operations with full P&L accountability.

Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building systems, HVAC infrastructure, energy management, and retrofit projects.

Experience leading and developing technical teams through periods of growth.

Familiarity with Ontario funding and incentive programs including Enbridge, IESO, NRCan, CMHC, and related initiatives is considered an asset.

Post-secondary education in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline. P.Eng., CEM, LEED AP, MBA, or equivalent credentials are considered assets.

Proven business development and relationship-building skills.

Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen.

Ability to identify opportunities, develop growth strategies, and execute effectively.

Strong financial and operational management capabilities.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Comfortable engaging with executive leaders, property owners, municipal decision-makers, and technical teams.

Entrepreneurial and growth-oriented mindset.

Relationship-focused and client‑centric approach.

Decisive, accountable, and results‑driven.

Collaborative leadership style that values technical expertise.

Highly professional, credible, and capable of representing the organization at the executive level.

Compensation Range: $175,000 - $ 185,000 with ETO up to $250,000
