English Learner Tutors

Position: English Learner Tutors ($32/per hour)
Dorchester County Public Schools is accepting applications for Tutors for English Learners. The English Learners Department provides instructional services to students whose first language is not English. Tutors will work part-time during the school day to provide targeted support for English language development. Previous experience with second language learners and/or proficiency in Spanish is helpful but not necessary. Training will be provided.

This is a grant funded position through May 2027. Flexible schedule up to 15 hours per week.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.

* Bachelor's degree in English, Education, Linguistics, TESOL, or related field (preferred).

* Demonstrated experience teaching English to children, teens, or adults.

* Knowledge of DCPS curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, DCPS policies, and effective instructional practices.

* Understands the teaching/learning process.

* Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education.

* Ability to infuse technology into curriculum.

* Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school-based staff, students, parents, and community.

* Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.

* Multilingual abilities (preferred).
