** Job Description Summary & Additional Information
** Chesapeake Biological Laboratory (CBL) is seeking an IT/AV Support Specialist to provide technical assistance at our CBL facilities. Located in Solomons, MD., CBL is one of four constituent research laboratories that form the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES), one of 12 institutions within the University System of Maryland. CBL has a 100-year heritage of research on the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Audio Video (AV) Support Specialist who is capable of working under limited supervision and skilled to manage the technical setup, operation, and maintenance of our campus audiovisual systems for various events, meetings, and conferences throughout various conference facilities within our campus in Solomons Maryland. The ideal candidate will ensure flawless execution of all audio-visual requirements, providing exceptional customer service and technical support to internal and external clients.

This position regularly interacts with all levels of university officials, faculty, state and local officials, the public and employees.
** Key Responsibilities
*** Customer Service:
Provide excellent customer service, collaborate with clients to understand their needs, and offer technical guidance to ensure a positive experience and successful events.
* Equipment Setup & Operation:
Accurately and timely operations for a wide range of audio, video, lighting, and Crestron projection equipment for meetings, events and conferences.
* Technical Support & Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve technical issues with AV equipment and systems quickly and efficiently as they arise.
* System Maintenance:
Assist with the proper security, storage, inventory and maintenance of equipment. Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs.
* Event Supervision:
May supervise and direct other IT/AV Specialists during events to ensure smooth operations.
* Documentation & Training:
Document system configurations, create maintenance programs, and potentially train staff members on basic AV troubleshooting and operation procedures

* Education:

Minimum of high school diploma or GED

* Experience:

A minimum of 3-5 years of IT and AV experience, with a specialty in audio, video, lighting, and presentation.
* Technical

Skills:

Proficiency with AV equipment, specifically Crestron, digital audio consoles, video conferencing systems (e.g., Cisco Webex, Zoom, MS Teams), and various hardware and software platforms.

* Certifications:

Relevant certifications such as CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) or Crestron certification are preferred.
* Problem-Solving:
High level of problem-solving skills and the ability to recommend alternative setups for complex systems.
* Physical Demands:
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs., stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders and moving equipment.
* Communication:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact professionally with a diverse workforce and client base.

Three years with the types of hardware and software to be supported, two years of which included user support, user training, and/or programming.

OTHER:

Thorough knowledge of applicable computer hardware or software. Skill in operating supported computers and peripherals; in configuring computer hardware and software; to analytically design program logic or solve technical problems. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to work effectively with clients; and providing guidance and instruction to others.
