Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Position Description

Responsible for initial and follow-up psychiatric consults in select assisted living and skilled nursing facilities. Daily patient encounters 11–16, lightweight documentation including initial/follow‑up progress notes. No H&P, discharge summaries, treatment plans, team meetings, or rounds. Use streamlined one‑page note templates.

Clinicians perform same duties; no hospital‑based services, no admissions, no discharges; minimal administrative beyond documentation and billing submission. Participation in telephone‑based on‑call schedule: about one weeknight per week (in
7) and less than one weekend per month, call via phone only. Phone calls during on‑call shift are infrequent.

Daily schedule flexible with autonomy while support from three psychiatrists and colleagues. Strong preference for experience prescribing/monitoring psychotropic medications; willing to train. PMHNP certification required in Pennsylvania; ideal in NJ;
Family & Geriatric acceptable in NJ.

Compensation
  • Full‑time salary starting at $130,000+ (based on experience), annual increases, optional productivity bonuses.
  • Full health benefits, retirement plan, 4 weeks PTO, 3 CME days with stipend and/or reimbursement for license renewals, national holidays off.
Requirements
  • MD APRN license, MD DEA, AANP certification (must be PMHNP).
  • Active and unrestricted license.
  • Effective oral and written communication in English.
  • Basic proficiency with technology, including electronic health records (EHR).
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills, with attention to regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to provide in‑person services at assigned facilities.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and move between patient rooms and offices within the facility throughout the day.
