SUMMARY

As Manager in Training, you will assist the Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties. You will be knowledgeable across all product areas, help determine approaches to achieve store goals, uphold policies and standards, promote sales and promotions, serve as an ambassador for Hibbett I City Gear, create unique customer experiences, and provide outstanding service. In the Store Manager’s absence you will assume supervisory control and be trained in their responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett I City Gear.
  • Consult with the Store Manager to establish action plans for sales, restocking, merchandising, ordering, scheduling, and other departmental objectives.
  • Assume responsibility for the entire store when the Store Manager is not present.
  • Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across all departments.
  • Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure departmental profitability.
  • Direct staff to meet departmental responsibilities and standards.
  • Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
  • Maintain quality customer service standards.
  • Perform general administrative duties as needed and be trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
  • Provide exceptional customer service as highlighted in the customer‑service manual, including greeting customers and assisting multiple customers during peak periods.
  • Promote and sell services and merchandise offered by Hibbett I City Gear.
  • Adhere to all Hibbett I City Gear policies, procedures, and standards from the operations, personnel, visual, and customer‑service manuals.
  • Protect the company’s assets and financial information by following internal control procedures and reporting potential fraud risks.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervise employees in the Store Manager’s absence.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Interview, train, plan, assign, and direct work for staff.
  • Resolve problems and handle staffing issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
  • 1–3 years of customer service experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
  • Self‑starter, with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with precision.
  • Team‑player, passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
