Job Duties & Responsibilities Technical Responsibilities
- Successfully complete a written HVAC and electrical competency assessment administered in person without the use of computers, phones, or other assistance. The assessment will evaluate knowledge of industry-standard HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical principles.
- Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on a wide variety of HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, and environmental control systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC/R equipment, water management systems, and facility infrastructure, including but not limited to:
- Coil cleaning
- Filter replacement
- Condensate drain maintenance
- Refrigeration system inspections
- Motor and belt inspections
- Equipment lubrication and adjustment
- Monitor facility environmental systems and verify proper operation to support cultivation and processing activities.
- Identify equipment deficiencies and recommend corrective actions or system improvements.
- Complete repairs in a timely manner to minimize operational downtime and protect production environments.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Track, record, perform, and initiate preventative maintenance activities on a diverse range of equipment and systems.
- Work independently on assigned projects and maintenance activities in the absence of the Head of Facilities.
- Serve as a hands‑on technician involved in all aspects of facility system functionality and maintenance.
- Inspect equipment and systems regularly to verify proper operation and compliance with company standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Organize, store, and manage maintenance materials, tools, and inventory in accordance with company policies and Maryland Cannabis Administration (MCA) requirements.
- Assist with internal deliveries, material movement, and facility shipments as needed.
- Maintain communication with the Procurement Manager and Accounts Payable team regarding inventory requirements, purchasing needs, receiving concerns, and daily workflow.
- Travel to company retail and operational locations to perform HVAC/R repairs, preventative maintenance, and facility support activities.
- Support facility expansion, renovation, and equipment installation projects as assigned.
- Participate in an on‑call rotation and respond to HVAC/R, refrigeration, environmental control, and facility emergencies as required.
- Troubleshoot and resolve urgent issues that may impact cultivation, processing, retail operations, or regulatory compliance.
- Ensure all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety policies, and applicable codes.
- Maintain full compliance with Maryland Cannabis Administration regulations and all company operational requirements.
- Follow all OSHA, electrical safety, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and facility security procedures.
- EPA Universal CFC Certification required.
- Journeyman or Master HVAC License preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years of commercial or industrial HVAC/R experience may be substituted for licensing prerequisites.
- Strong understanding of HVAC/R systems, refrigeration cycles, electrical troubleshooting, motors, controls, and building mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and technical drawings.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel between company facilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, cultivation areas, and industrial environments.
- Experience in cannabis cultivation, controlled environment agriculture (CEA), greenhouse operations, pharmaceutical manufacturing, food processing, or other highly regulated industries.
- Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS), environmental controls, dehumidification systems, and water treatment systems.
- Knowledge of cultivation environmental requirements including temperature, humidity, VPD, airflow, and CO₂ management.
