Social Worker
Dorchester County Public Schools is currently accepting applications for School Social Worker openings for the school year at Sandy Hill Elementary School. School Social Workers support student success in school by providing direct clinical case management services to students and their families; developing and managing school‑based mental health partnerships; and providing consultative services to DCPS staff and parents.
DUTIES- Provides integrated, coordinated clinical case management services.
- Assesses student and family dynamics as related to school success.
- Participates in student services teaming and administrative meetings.
- Provides consultative and crisis management services for DCPS as directed.
- Maintains case documentation.
- Advocates for children and families within the school setting and with outside agencies.
- Collaborates with community agencies to foster student success.
- Identifies and develops resources and services to meet community needs.
- Facilitates effective delivery of on‑site resources and services.
- Facilitates social skills lessons for students using a social skills curriculum.
- Participates in local/county organizations, representing the Community Agency School Services program goals and objectives.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal or Supervisor of Mental Health Services.
- Masters Degree in Social Work or Social Welfare.
- Certification as a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Certified Social Worker‑Clinical (LCSW‑C) pursuant to COMAR 13A.12.04.11.
- Complete 3 semester hours or State‑approved CPD credits in special education coursework pursuant to COMAR 13A.12.04.11.
- Three (3) years experience as an LCSW or LCSW‑C, preferred.
- Demonstrated effective and accurate written and oral communication skills.
- Advanced familiarity with various computer applications and software is essential.
- Understanding of professional ethics and behavior.
- Self‑directed and able to develop and implement programs.
- Previous school social work experience.
- Public speaking skills.
- Experience in the mental health field.
- Understanding of community resources.
