About the Role

The Senior Accountant drives financial oversight within a manufacturing and production‑driven environment. Positioned between day‑to‑day accounting operations and senior leadership, this role delivers job costing, financial analysis, and actionable reporting to support plant operations, margin management, and informed business decisions.

Essential Job Functions
  • Own the monthly close process and deliver draft financial results and variance commentary by an agreed business day each month.
  • Produce a recurring operations dashboard (e.g., weekly or per production cycle) covering inventory, WIP, job profitability, and key cost drivers.
  • Maintain job costing and WIP accuracy through regular reconciliation and timely cost allocation updates tied to production activity.
  • Lead budget and forecast refreshes on a defined cadence (monthly/quarterly) and present key drivers, risks, and mitigation options to leadership.
  • Coordinate annual audit and tax deliverables with external partners and meet internal deadlines with complete, review‑ready schedules.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly and year‑end financial statements with a focus on production performance and cost drivers.
  • Build operational financial reports that connect plant activity, inventory, and margins.
  • Provide variance analysis and forecasting to explain production, labour, material, and overhead impacts.
  • Present financial results and implications in clear, operational terms for leadership and plant teams.
Job Costing, Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Own job costing and project‑level financial analysis in a manufacturing/construction context.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting tied to production volumes, capital investments, and growth initiatives.
  • Analyze ROI on equipment, process improvements, and capital expenditures.
Compliance, Audit & Tax
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP / IFRS and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the internal point person for audits and compliance reviews in coordination with external auditors.
  • Oversee externally managed tax compliance and build internal capability over time.
General Ledger, Inventory & Oversight
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, including complex reconciliations.
  • Oversee accounting related to inventory, work‑in‑progress, and cost of goods sold.
  • Review and oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bookkeeping activities.
  • Validate that financial reporting aligns to operational reality through regular review with plant stakeholders.
Systems, Process Improvement & Growth
  • Learn Pink Precast’s accounting and operational systems and plant workflows before driving change.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting, controls, and efficiency across accounting and operations.
  • Prepare financial reporting for related or holding companies as the organization expands.
  • Partner closely with operations, production, and leadership teams to support informed decision‑making.
  • Develop trust with long‑tenured employees through patience and practical change management.
  • Mentor and support junior accounting staff and contribute to a strong internal finance function.
Qualifications & Competencies
  • 5 to 7 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including public accounting.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA, CGA, CMA, CGMA or equivalent) or a CPA in progress.
  • Post‑secondary education in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • Experience in manufacturing, construction or job‑costing environments is an asset.
  • Experience in Payworks, Cashbook, and/or Visual Manufacturing is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect financial data to operational outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing accounting, cost structures, and production drivers.
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with niche or non‑intuitive systems.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to explain what the numbers mean, not just report them.
  • Practical, grounded, and patient approach.
  • Comfortable working in a hands‑on manufacturing workplace.
  • Collaborative communicator who earns trust across operations and leadership.
