Staff Accountant

How will your role make an impact at Aera Therapeutics? Reporting to the Director, Finance and Accounting, you will provide day-to-day support and administration of various accounting and finance processes, including accounts payables, purchasing, expense reimbursement, month and quarterly close, and yearly audits. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of accounting principles and is looking to expand their real world experience in the life sciences / biotech industry.
Youwill:
- Oversee end-to-end payment process; prepare and review weekly payment reports, initiate online bank portal submission for the weekly check run.
- Administer month-end close of accounts payable and assist with identifying month-end accruals.
- Resolve any account discrepancies through investigation of supporting documentation and direct communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Retrieve, organize, and maintain vendor forms, ensuring full compliance with 1099 reporting.
- Review employee expense reimbursements for policy compliance, reconcile discrepancies with employees in a friendly and efficient manner.
- Prepare bank reconciliations and journal entries as needed.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
- Provide support and guidance to the independent public accountants in connection with the year-end audits.
- Effectively manage vendor and partner relationships.
- Support Finance team with ad hoc projects and participate in finance discussions and monthly close meetings.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with 1-2 years of industry experience.
- Net Suite experience (or other ERP).
- Ability to translate financial concepts to individuals at all levels, including finance and non‑finance managers.

The approximate salary range for this role is $75,000 - $84,000.
In addition to the base salary, eligible employees will have an opportunity to participate in an annual cash bonus, equity incentives, and a robust benefits offering that includes health insurance, 401k retirement plan with company match, paid sick and vacation time, life and disability insurance, and commuting expense reimbursement.
