Position Overview

The Manager, Revenue Accounting will play a critical role in establishing and managing Apnimed's revenue accounting function as the Company prepares for commercialization. This individual will lead the development of the Company's gross-to-net accounting processes, controls, and policies while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and applicable revenue recognition guidance.

This is a highly visible individual contributor role responsible for owning the monthly gross-to-net process, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and partnering with external consultants to develop scalable accounting processes that support a growing commercial organization. The ideal candidate brings deep biotechnology industry experience with gross-to-net accounting, revenue recognition, inventory, and cost of sales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design, implementation, and ongoing management of the Company's gross-to-net accounting process in preparation for commercial product launches.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls related to revenue recognition, gross-to-net reserves, and commercial accounting.
  • Own the monthly gross-to-net close process, including the review of estimates and accruals prepared in partnership with external consultants.
  • Prepare monthly gross-to-net reserve and revenue-related balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and record journal entries related to gross-to-net reserves, reserve true-ups, revenue, cost of sales, inventory, and other commercial accounting activities.
  • Ensure compliance with ASC 606 (Revenue from Contracts with Customers) and other applicable U.S. GAAP accounting guidance.
  • Partner with Commercial, Market Access, Finance, Supply Chain, and external consultants to analyze changes in reserves and explain period-over-period variances.
  • Support inventory accounting, cost of sales accounting, and related financial reporting activities.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Controller to provide revenue-related disclosures, supporting schedules, and documentation to support SEC filings and SOX compliance..
  • Support external audits by preparing documentation, responding to audit requests, and maintaining strong audit-ready processes.
  • Monitor new accounting guidance and industry trends related to revenue accounting and recommend process improvements.
  • Assist with special projects and other technical accounting initiatives as the Company continues to grow.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Required:

    Biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience with direct responsibility for gross-to-net accounting.
  • Strong experience with revenue accounting under ASC 606.
  • Demonstrated expertise in gross-to-net accounting, including rebates, chargebacks, returns, government pricing programs, distribution fees, and other commercial reserves.
  • Experience accounting for inventory and cost of sales within a commercial biotechnology or pharmaceutical company.
  • Public accounting experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience designing accounting processes, internal controls, and operational workflows within a growing organization.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting monthly and quarterly close activities.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving biotechnology environment.

The salary range for this position is $125,000 - $160,000. Final compensation will be determined based on multiple factors and may fall outside of the posted range.
