Grant Accountant

We are looking for a Grant Accountant to support sponsored funding activity for a higher education organization in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This long-term contract position will focus first on proposal development and pre-award coordination, with responsibilities expanding into broader post-award grant administration over time. The role is well suited for someone who understands research administration workflows, federal grant requirements, and collaborative support across a grants team.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate proposal preparation and submission activities for sponsored projects, ensuring deadlines, documentation, and sponsor requirements are met.
• Support both pre-award and post-award grant administration tasks across a portfolio of externally funded awards.
• Work closely with senior research administration staff to assist with budgeting, fund setup, reporting support, and award tracking.
• Review sponsored project activity for compliance with federal regulations and institutional grant management standards.
• Provide day-to-day administrative and financial support related to grant and fund administration within a higher education environment.
• Help organize project coordination efforts across research administration processes, including communication with internal stakeholders and follow-up on required materials.
• Contribute to expanded grants management coverage as team needs shift during a planned staff leave.
• Use systems and tools such as Cognos, Brio, and Excel to monitor grant data, prepare analyses, and support financial oversight.
