Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to provide assistance and support to both central office staff as well as field staff. This is a per diem on call position without benefits and with a restriction of less than 30 hours a week. Individuals must be tenants of CHA or hold section 8 vouchers through CHA. They could perform moderate complex clerical work, involving a variety of clerical tasks such as typing, filing and answering telephones as well as various site related duties.
Responsibilities& Duties
- Types materials and correspondence from rough copy
- Maintains filing system
- Answers phones and helps to answer general inquiries on matters relating to the department or housing development
- Operates a variety of office machines such as computer, typewriter, calculator, photocopier, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Flyer Delivery – Delivers flyers/notices to residents as directed
- Elevator Assistance – Give assistance to residents when elevators are out of service – Must be able to make multiple trips up flights of stairs.
- Escort – Provide escort for unit inspectors and monitor activity
- Packing Assistant – Assist residents with packing to move. This task would require the ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Measuring Assistant – Provide assistance to project managers by taking notes and holding tape measure.
- Open and close community room for meetings.
Applicants must be current tenants of CHA or currently hold a section 8 voucher through CHA.

Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalent and administrative/secretarial experience in an office environment preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Ability to speak another language other than English is a plus.
Technical Skills- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office). Ability to learn other computer software programs may be required by assigned tasks.
- Language proficiency:
Spanish, Haitian Creole, Mandarin, Cantonese, Amharic, Russian, Portuguese (not required but useful).

Require stationary position, operating computers, moving about the office, attending onsite and offsite meetings. Occasionally transport up to 10 pounds and walk up flights of stairs.
