Role SummaryHead of Commercial Field Excellence leads multiple teams focused on the strategic alignment, planning, training, and effectiveness of Commercial Excellence across Biogen's North America portfolio. Oversees enterprise CRM, field systems, and data enablement to support Medical field teams; drives enablement and effectiveness of over 800 field employees across Neurology, Specialty, Rare Disease, and emerging areas. Partners with Therapeutic Area Heads and Field Heads to align with Biogen’s commercial priorities, balancing operational rigor with sales strategy to contribute to revenue growth.
Reports to the Head of Business Intelligence & Operations and collaborates with senior leaders across Biogen’s North American portfolio.
- Drive field team effectiveness by setting strategic direction and operational frameworks.
- Lead Commercial Learning & Development, ensuring alignment with therapeutic area and brand strategies.
- Integrate sales strategy by partnering with senior Commercial leaders for optimal call planning and resource deployment.
- Oversee commercial field operations excellence, including HCP call plan design, field technology platforms, and incentive compensation.
- Partner with BIO & Operations Decision Sciences to analyze commercial field execution data.
- Lead strategic planning for field enablement platforms, ensuring scalability and innovation.
- Manage IC budgets and provide leadership decision support on plan adjustments.
- Represent US BIO perspective in leadership forums and serve as a primary point of contact.
- Drive cross-functional transformation initiatives and elevate field execution through planning frameworks and technology roadmaps.
- Coach and develop talent within Field Ops and Commercial Learning organizations.
- Required:
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in bio/pharmaceutical commercial operations, sales excellence, or analytics, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. - Required:
Deep understanding of pharmaceutical/biotech commercial strategy drivers and compliance requirements. - Required:
Proven expertise in CRM/SFA platforms, particularly Veeva, and sales reporting and analytics. - Required:
Demonstrated leadership in sales incentive compensation design and governance. - Required:
Strong record of integrating sales strategy and delivering field force growth. - Required:
Ability to lead change management and organizational transformation in a matrixed environment. - Required:
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to operate effectively at senior leadership levels. - Preferred:
Experience in Medical Affairs planning and tactical execution of medical field personnel. - Preferred:
Demonstrated ability to lead Commercial Learning & Development functions.
