Senior Director, New Product Strategy & Planning, North America
Reports to the VP of Business Operations and leads strategic planning and execution for new product development and commercialization in the US market.
ResponsibilitiesPartner with the Global New Product Strategy & Innovation Team, business development, and North America leadership to provide a commercial perspective for the US market and assess external assets and opportunities.
Develop and execute early commercialization and pre-launch plans that are tailored for the US market to maximize asset value.
Contribute to the evolution of the Therapeutic Area & Franchise Strategies, including market opportunity assessment for external asset evaluations.
Develop a vision for the new product planning function in North America, transitioning internal assets, including early commercial phase 1-2 assets and pre-launch Phase 3 assets, from global to US brand teams.
Provide US perspective for external innovation strategies across therapeutic areas, including access & pricing, and apply therapeutic area strategies to prioritize external innovation and business development opportunities.
Support business development by identifying opportunities to enhance the assessment process, lead commercial evaluation of assets, and provide detailed feedback on triage assets.
Serve as the US commercial lead across all stages of business development & external innovation, partnering with cross-functional teams (business development, external innovation, medical affairs, R&D, regulatory, finance, countries, global pricing & access, business excellence) to develop commercial models and business cases.
Streamline and ensure quality content generation across all evaluations, align with internal processes, and present NA opportunity assessments to cross-functional and executive leadership teams.
Lead internal pipeline value and operationalization efforts, integrate new assets across phases 1-3 into Ipsen pipeline and NA teams, and provide perspectives on launch planning considerations, US value and access, and other commercialization critical success factors.
Continue to support the VP, Business Operations & Strategy and NA President in identifying best opportunities for US growth.
Knowledge & Experience (essential)Minimum 10 years in New Product Planning, Global Marketing, Business Development, or Portfolio Management roles within the biopharmaceutical industry, with experience in early commercial planning, disease area strategy, business development activity, forecasting, and launch activities.
Strong scientific, medical, and commercial experience in oncology, neuroscience, and/or rare diseases, with proven knowledge of clinical pipeline planning, business development, and launch activities.
Strategy consulting experience in life sciences (e.g., early-commercial strategy, commercialization, LCM, BD, due diligence) is highly valued.
Experience in US pricing and access, working across a cross-functional matrix team to meet deliverables on time and budget, and strategic marketing expertise (positioning, targeting, segmentation, launch planning, life cycle management) is highly preferred.
Strong business acumen and understanding of the US market, excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills (forecasting, business case development), strong communication and presentation skills, sense of urgency, qualitative & quantitative market research experience, and strong planning and project management skills.
Education / Certifications (essential)Advanced degree in Life Sciences-related discipline and/or an MBA.

Annual base salary range: $217,500 – $310,000. Eligibility for short-term incentives program.
