Head of Computational and AI Strategy Management Office, Research and Development

About the job

As the Head of the Computational & AI Strategy Management Office, you will drive Sanofi’s AI‑driven transformation across the R&D value chain, serving as a central orchestrator and strategic integrator to enable execution of AI initiatives with speed and discipline.

Main Responsibilities
  • Strategy Development & Translation – Define and evolve the Computational & AI Strategy for R&D, build strategic narratives and materials for leadership forums, structure a repeatable strategy development approach, frame opportunities, define actionable approaches, and create recommendations grounded in data.
  • Governance, Investment & Decision Support – Design and operationalize AI and digital investment prioritization across R&D functions, develop business cases and investment proposals including impact, cost, timeline, ROI, and prepare materials for leadership reviews.
  • Operating Rhythm & Execution Management – Establish and manage operating cadence, leadership meetings, strategic reviews, initiative tracking, milestone definition, risk identification, escalation, and friction removal.
  • Strategic Partnering & External Innovation – Develop external engagement strategy aligned to priorities, identify and assess partnership opportunities (AI platforms, biotech, etc.), evaluate opportunities on scientific, technical, regulatory, commercial, financial and strategic fit, develop deal rationale, and position Sanofi as a partner of choice.
  • Cross‑Functional Alignment & Stakeholder Management – Act as integrator across R&D, Digital, Data, IT; lead cross‑functional coordination across research platforms, clinical and digital/AI teams, build relationships with senior leaders, advise and solve problems.
  • Strategic Insights & Landscape Analysis – Monitor AI/data/trends, assess competitive landscape, translate insights into recommendations on building, buying, partnering, and support points‑of‑view creation.
  • Continuous Improvement of Operating Model – Identify and implement improvements to operating model, governance, decision‑making; develop scalable frameworks, KPIs, performance tracking, and institutionalize best practices.
  • About You – Basic Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree required.
    • Minimum 5+ years of experience in strategy, operations, consulting, or related fields.
    • Demonstrated experience operating in a global, matrixed organization.
    • Proven ability to drive strategic initiatives from concept to execution.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Advanced degree (MBA, PhD, or equivalent).
    • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industries.
    • Experience in digital, AI, or data‑driven organizations.
    • Experience in strategic partnering, business development, or external innovation.
    • Experience building business cases, investment decks, or executive‑level materials.
    • Experience leading cross‑functional initiatives and influencing senior stakeholders.
