Summary
The Discovery Sciences (DSc) department at Novartis Biomedical Research (BR) merges groundbreaking technical capabilities with deep scientific expertise to deliver bold innovations at the forefront of science. As a member of the DSc Operations Team, you will be a critical resource within the organization to manage business operations that enable the development of novel drug targets and new therapeutics. We are seeking a hands‑on Business Operations Lead with a strong passion for data and knowledge management to lead the execution of our business operations and support the dynamic research department.

- Execute and optimize the financial plan: work with Finance and support functions to order and administer funds for scientific strategy; act as subject‑matter expert in tools and processes for research operations.
- Resolve issues: support DSc scientists with operational challenges, manage vendor and collaboration data, and advance upstream processes to prevent problems.
- Deliver simplicity from complexity: design reports and data management solutions to provide clean, accessible, and timely data on budgets, lab resources, people, and compliance.
- Work within an organizational matrix: build relationships with DSc researchers and Operations to align on departmental and corporate objectives.
- Realize the technology strategy: plan, order, deliver, and implement lab technologies, including complex integrated equipment systems.
- Support global departmental evolution: lead projects and design operational programs supporting department priorities and cross‑functional coordination.
- B.S. or M.S. in a scientific or management discipline with 3+ years in business or lab operations, or 5+ years in a biology/chemistry research environment with operational responsibilities.
- Strong problem‑solving, collaboration, organization, and detail orientation; ability to exercise independent judgment.
- User‑oriented mindset; experience supporting associates and building relationships.
- Advanced skills in enterprise accounting, procurement, and collaboration software.
- Project management, operational excellence, and design‑thinking experience with successful project outcomes.
- Experience optimizing business processes with AI tools.
- Creativity in operational tasks.
The salary range is $85,400 to $158,600 per year, with performance‑based cash incentive and potential equity awards. U.S. employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, including health, life, disability, 401(k) match, and generous time‑off.
