House Manager
Global Arts Live + The Platform are seeking a House Manager to play a key role in the management and operations of the Audience Services department. Reporting to the Director of Audience Services, the House Manager will oversee all front-of-house activities at The Platform. This position will collaborate with box office staff all events at The Platform, to ensure a welcoming and seamless experience for all patrons.
Responsibilities
- Supervise all performances, in coordination with the Assistant House Manager, at The Platform's two stages (the Takeda Theater and the Tempo Stage), and other events in The Platform involving audiences or other guests.
- Hire, train, supervise, and schedule Front of House staff including ushers, coat check staff, merchandise sellers, and volunteers
- Coordinate with Food and Beverage Manager regarding bar operations and concessions during performances to ensure guest satisfaction
- Liaise with presenting organizations renting spaces, regarding Front of House operations and staffing
- Develop, implement, and supervise a volunteer greeter program for events at The Platform
- Create and distribute Front of House reports and follow up as needed with customer service issues or concerns
- Monitor theater spaces for maintenance issues and follow up as needed
- Collaborate with box office prior to and during events to ensure a welcoming atmosphere for all patrons
- Support the Director of Audience Services in financial reconciliations for performances, including providing settlements for venues, artists, and renters.
- Support cross-departmental projects including but not limited to special events, educational and audience engagement initiatives.

Qualifications
- Minimum three years of experience in house management and/or customer service required.
- Supervisor experience and/or team leading and building experience required.
- Prior Box Office experience a bonus, training will be provided otherwise as this position will provide coverage in that department if needed
- Proficiency in additional languages is a plus; multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply
- Ability to confidently manage challenging and dynamic situations with the public while maintaining professionalism
- Ability to work effectively and respectfully with diverse populations in a welcoming manner
- Discretion in handling confidential information
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed by event schedules
Other Requirements
- First Aid and CPR certification required; initial training and annual recertification provided
- Physical demands of the job may include lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for long periods of time, climbing stairs, working in spaces with lighting effects such as strobe lights, efficiently navigating in a darkened theater
Hours
During the performance season (September–June), this position will be scheduled based on the performance calendar, including regular Monday–Friday office hours for administrative tasks.
Compensation
This is a full-time, exempt position with an annual salary of $60,000. Benefits include health, dental, disability and life insurance; SIMPLE Cafeteria flexible spending account; paid vacation, sick, and personal days; and 10 paid holidays.
