We are seeking an experienced Civil Superintendent to lead day-to-day field operations on long-term civil construction projects throughout Southeast Massachusetts. This is a highly visible, hands‑on leadership role with a significant impact on project success, safety, quality, and team performance.
From project kickoff through completion, the Superintendent is responsible for ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with project plans, specifications, and client expectations. This role is ideal for a big‑picture thinker who thrives in the field, leads from the front, and takes pride in delivering high‑quality civil infrastructure work.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage daily field operations from project kickoff through completion
- Serve as the primary field liaison between the Project Manager and field crews
- Ensure all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project standards
- Develop and execute accurate work plans based on drawings and specifications
- Assign crew responsibilities, manage manpower, equipment, and materials
- Monitor project schedules and proactively address issues impacting progress
- Enforce productivity expectations, quality standards, and safety requirements
- Coordinate with dispatch and assist with scheduling and resource planning
- Identify and mitigate risks while resolving field challenges in real time
- Participate in budgeting and cost control efforts in collaboration with Project Managers
- Review and analyze subcontractor scopes, purchase orders, and project documentation
- High School diploma with 10+ years of heavy civil construction experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of materials, methods, and tools used in highway, roadway, site, and utility construction
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contracts
- General understanding of construction survey terminology related to heavy civil projects
- Experience working in a self‑perform, multi‑trade construction environment
- Basic understanding of construction layout and GPS survey equipment / machine control
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to delegate and motivate field teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a CORI background check (required for certain projects)
- OSHA 10 and First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain)
Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
