Moston, MA (Must be within 70 miles of Greater Boston)

Position Overview

The Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Superintendent is responsible for managing and supervising field construction operations on assigned transmission, distribution, and substation projects. This role ensures all work is executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in compliance with contractual, regulatory, and company requirements. The Superintendent will coordinate subcontractors, oversee daily construction activities, and work closely with project management to achieve successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities Field & Construction Management
  • Direct and supervise daily field construction activities for assigned T&D projects.
  • Plan, organize, and oversee specific scopes of work to ensure safe, timely, and profitable project execution.
  • Maintain continuity of work progress and maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Oversee construction scheduling for T&D subcontractors and confirm completion of contractual activities.
  • Track installed quantities and productivity on a work-hour basis.
Scope Oversight

Responsible for oversight of construction activities including, but not limited to:

  • High-voltage transmission lines
  • Transmission line steel structures
  • Drilled piers and spread footings
  • High-voltage duct bank installation
  • Grounding systems
  • Environmental compliance requirements
  • Substation equipment, structures, electrical systems, and controls
Safety & Compliance
  • Assume overall responsibility for jobsite safety.
  • Review and audit site-specific safety documentation, including Pre-Task Analyses (PTAs) and Task Safety Observations (TSOs).
  • Ensure compliance with all safety policies, codes, specifications, and environmental requirements.
Subcontractor & Client Coordination
  • Manage subcontractor performance and ensure compliance with contract terms.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, subcontractors, A/E representatives, and other contractors.
  • Direct subcontractors to meet schedule, quality, and safety requirements.
Project Controls & Documentation
  • Complete daily field reports and maintain daily photo documentation of construction progress.
  • Review subcontractor 3-week look-ahead schedules and identify potential concerns or conflicts.
  • Verify materials meet specifications, are properly stored, and maintained in coordination with materials management.
  • Authorize purchase requisitions and field change requests under the supervision of the Construction Manager and Project Manager.
  • Ensure the most current drawing revisions are being used in the field.
  • Understand project scope and execute approved field change orders.
Quality & Turnover
  • Witness equipment setting and alignment.
  • Walk down systems prior to and during testing to confirm compliance with drawings and specifications.
  • Sign off on completed system testing and restoration.
  • Develop and manage punch lists for incomplete or non-compliant work.
Leadership & Staffing
  • Oversee craft supervision and project staffing needs.
  • Provide oversight of jobsite tools, equipment, and material management.
  • Supervise and coordinate all physical construction efforts in alignment with company policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience (One Required):

  • Bachelor's Degree with 7+ years of T&D construction management or craft supervision experience
  • Associate's Degree with 9+ years of T&D construction management or craft supervision experience
  • High School Diploma/GED with 11+ years of T&D construction management or craft supervision experience

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Proven leadership and strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated safety leadership and field safety management experience
  • Ability to read and interpret isometric drawings, structural drawings, and P&IDs
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong understanding of transmission, distribution, and substation construction practices

Additional Requirements:

  • Must meet company driving requirements
  • Must reside within 70 miles of the Greater Boston / Moston, MA area
  • Ability to work in field environments and support project schedules
