We are seeking an experienced Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Superintendent to lead field operations for high-voltage transmission and substation construction projects. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, timely, and profitable project execution while maintaining strict compliance with contractual, engineering, and safety standards. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience managing high-voltage transmission lines, substations, and related civil and structural components within large-scale infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities Field Construction & Supervision- Plan, organize, and supervise construction activities within assigned project areas
- Oversee T&D construction activities including:
- High-voltage transmission lines
- Transmission steel structures
- Drilled piers and spread footings
- High-voltage duct banks and grounding
- Substation equipment, structures, electrical systems, and controls
- Direct subcontractors to ensure schedule adherence and quality compliance
- Track installed quantities and monitor productivity
- Manage construction scheduling for T&D-related subcontractor work
- Review 3-week look-ahead schedules and identify future work concerns
- Support change management and execute field change orders
- Authorize purchase requisitions and field design change requests (as directed)
- Maintain overall project safety and enforce safety policies
- Review and audit Pre-Task Analyses (PTAs) and Task Safety Observations (TSOs)
- Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and company standards
- Walk down systems before/during testing and approve system restoration
- Complete daily field reports and document progress with photos
- Verify materials meet specifications and are stored properly
- Develop punch lists for incomplete or non-compliant work
- Confirm correct drawing revisions are used in the field
- Witness equipment settings and alignments
- Interface with client representatives, A/E teams, and contractors
- Build strong client and subcontractor relationships
- Collaborate with Project Management and Construction Managers
- Support audits and contractual compliance reviews
- One of the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree + 7 years of T&D construction management or craft supervision experience
- Associate Degree + 9 years of T&D construction management or craft supervision experience
- High School Diploma/GED + 11 years of T&D construction management or craft supervision experience
- Strong experience in high-voltage transmission and substation construction
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Strong safety background and commitment to safe jobsite practices
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to meet company driving requirements
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Ability to manage subcontractors and maintain schedule integrity
- Skilled in interpreting isometric drawings, structural drawings, and P&IDs
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to oversee multiple concurrent field activities
- Safe and efficient project execution
- On-time completion of contractual construction activities
- Strong subcontractor performance management
- Accurate documentation and schedule compliance
