About UsWe are a growing and reputable civil engineering firm delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across the Eastern Region. Our portfolio includes highways, drainage, utilities, earthworks, public realm improvements and major infrastructure schemes for both public and private sector clients. Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an ambitious and motivated Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team and begin their professional career within the civil engineering sector.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience, work alongside experienced professionals and develop towards full chartership.
As a Graduate Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial team in managing the financial and contractual aspects of multiple civil engineering projects from inception through to completion. You will receive structured training and mentoring while building your technical, commercial and project management skills.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, budgets and tender submissions
- Support the measurement and valuation of works on site
- Help prepare monthly valuations, applications for payment and cost reports
- Assist with subcontractor procurement and account management
- Monitor project costs and identify potential commercial risks
- Support the management of variations and change control processes
- Assist with contract administration and documentation
- Attend site visits and project meetings
- Maintain accurate commercial records and reporting systems
- Work closely with project managers, engineers and site teams
We are looking for someone who is eager to learn, commercially aware and keen to build a long‑term career within civil engineering.
Essential Requirements- Degree qualified (or due to graduate) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
- Full UK driving licence (or working towards obtaining one)
- Previous placement, internship or work experience within construction or civil engineering
- Knowledge of standard forms of contract such as NEC
- Understanding of civil engineering projects and construction processes
- Salary up to £30,000 per annum
