Job DescriptionWe're hiring a Creative Social Media Strategist whose primary value is creative thinking, ideation, and social‑native storytelling
. This role is focused on defining what content should exist, how it should show up on social platforms, and why it will resonate. You’ll help shape viral angles, narratives, and formats that make portfolio products more attractive and shareable, working in close collaboration with teams who support execution and publishing. Hands‑on contribution may occasionally be helpful, but success in this role is driven by the strength of ideas, creative direction, and impact on audience engagement.
The compensation range for this position is $40 - $80 per hour.
- Develop creative social media concepts and content angles that help portfolio products stand out and gain traction
- Identify hooks, narratives, and formats that make products feel relevant, engaging, and shareable on social media platforms
- Shape storytelling across posts, videos, and campaigns tailored by platform and audience behavior
- Advise portfolio founders and teams on how to appear on social media in ways that feel authentic and compelling
- Translate complex product value into clear, attention‑grabbing social media ideas
- Monitor social media trends, cultural moments, and platform shifts to inform creative direction
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to turn concepts into execution
- Use performance signals and qualitative feedback to refine creative strategy over time
- Contribute hands‑on when helpful, without owning day‑to‑day production, posting, or channel operations
- A proven creative thinker who brings original ideas, experiments with new approaches, and knows how to break through the noise
- Strong copywriting and storytelling skills, able to turn complex ideas into simple, compelling narratives
- Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple projects and deliver fresh, creative work on deadline
- Exceptional creative instincts and pattern recognition for what performs on social media
- A strong point of view on why certain content works beyond aesthetics or trends
- Experience shaping social concepts, campaigns, or narratives that drive engagement or attention
- Comfort working across multiple social formats (posts, video, visuals) without needing to execute all of them personally
- Strong storytelling skills and the ability to frame ideas clearly for creators, designers, and founders
- Deep familiarity with social media culture, platform dynamics, and audience behavior
- Ability to operate with openness, think independently, and guide creative direction at a high level
- Collaborative mindset and comfort influencing without direct ownership of execution
- Social or campaign concepts you developed
- Examples of posts or videos you helped shape, with context on your role
- Creative frameworks, decks, or experiments related to social growth
As part of a collaborative marketing team that values execution, trust, and growth, you’ll have the opportunity to work closely with founders, see how early‑stage companies operate from the inside, and contribute meaningfully to how products and brands take shape. We move quickly, but also invest in people, providing feedback, support, and space to grow. This role is a strong fit for someone who wants to build, contribute, and evolve alongside a team that takes its work seriously and supports one another.
This is a contract position. Epipelagic Ventures’s office is located in Cambridge, MA. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship is not being offered at this time. Extensive travel is not currently expected.
