Brick & Mortar – Cook & Culinary Events Lead
Posted on February 27, 2026 | Cambridge - Central Square
Within Brick & Mortar
, one of the most acclaimed cocktail bars in the Northeast, we’re building Acqua & Bocca
—an exclusive Italian apericena program led by Chef Avery Appleton (Central Kitchen, No. 9 Park, Craigie Street Bistrot). In Italy, aperitivo is more than drinks—it’s the sacred pause between work and evening, where community forms over small plates and conversation.
This is a hybrid position—part culinary collaborator, part event producer. You’ll work alongside our management team to design and execute private dinners, industry pop-ups, and special event menus that represent Brick & Mortar’s standard of craft and innovation.
Responsibilities- Support daily aperitivo prep and execution.
- Develop menus for private events.
- Coordinate pop‑up collaborations with chefs and industry peers.
- Manage event logistics from sourcing to execution.
You have 3+ years of hands‑on kitchen experience, ideally with some exposure to event or catering work. You’re organized enough to run logistics and creative enough to build a menu around a single idea. You work well independently but collaborate naturally. Experience with Italian cuisine is a plus—what matters more is curiosity, work ethic, and the ability to execute at a high level under variable conditions.
You’re available evenings and some, but not all, weekends, and have a flexible schedule.
This position pays $26–30/hour. We structure schedules so you’re working reasonable hours with reasonable expectations. Salary arrangements are available for the right person. We offer health insurance contributions, 401(k), and access to ongoing food and wine educational opportunities—with additional benefits available as the role grows into a management position.
Physical DemandsSeeing, hearing, speaking, reaching, lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for 5–10 hours. These requirements may be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodations.
