MUSIC TECHNOLOGY AND DIGITAL MEDIA LIBRARIAN
, The Lewis Music Library to lead the Audio Lab; oversee specialized media equipment; manage budgets; inventories; and student staff; and support evolving music technologies. The position develops programs, services, instructional materials, and outreach that enhance engagement with library resources; provides research consultations and faculty support; coordinates resource acquisition; preserves historical audio materials; and advances innovative research. The specialist also manages website content, communications, and online guides while collaborating across MIT to support music technology instruction, research, learning, and meaningful access to physical and digital media collections.

Job Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Music or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • A minimum of three years of professional experience in audio production and engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of music and software including Finale, Sibelius, Muse Score, Logic Pro, Reaper, Max (Cycling ’74), Smart Score, and Wave Pad.
  • Ability to generate reports, support users with technology and equipment, adapt to change, and solve problems.
  • Knowledge of HTML, Java, or Python.
  • Deep understanding of audio production tools, recording formats, and media technologies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with faculty, students, and staff.
  • MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution.
  • Academic library experience, including Alma/Primo.
  • Knowledge of music encoding, computational composing, and music technology.
  • Experience supervising students or staff.
