Associate Producer

The Arab Leadership Institute (ALI) is a leadership and learning platform working to equip current and emerging leaders across the Arab world with the knowledge, tools, and skills to lead meaningful change.

Founded by Harvard alumni and faculty, ALI brings together ideas from leadership, public policy, negotiation, and organizational change and adapts them to the realities of the Arab region. We work with universities, public institutions, civil society organizations, and emerging leaders to create practical learning experiences that connect world-class expertise with local knowledge.

At the heart of our work is a simple belief: better leadership can help build more just, prosperous, and inclusive societies.

ALI is launching a new educational media series designed to make ideas and research from Harvard scholars more accessible to students and emerging leaders around the world.

We are looking for Harvard undergraduate students to join the project as Founding Associate Producers.

This is not a traditional internship where you simply support an established project. You will be joining at the beginning and helping us figure out what the series can become.

Working with the ALI team, Associate Producers will help film and produce conversations with Harvard professors and other experts, develop ideas for episodes and digital content, and shape how those ideas are presented to a wider audience.

Depending on your interests and experience, your work may include:

• Supporting the filming of interviews and conversations with Harvard faculty and other experts
• Helping prepare for shoots, including research, questions, schedules, and production logistics
• Contributing ideas for episodes, formats, and storytelling
• Assisting with video, audio, and other multimedia content
• Helping turn academic ideas and research into engaging, accessible content
• Coordinating with guests and members of the production team
• Supporting the organization and growth of the series as it develops

The role is hybrid in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with much of the work taking place flexibly and some in-person filming and production.

Compensation: $25/hour

Commitment:
Approximately 4 hours per week

You do not need to be an experienced filmmaker or producer.

We are especially interested in students who are curious, dependable, creative, and excited about building something new.

You may be a strong fit if you:

• Are currently a Harvard undergraduate student
• Have an interest in education, media, storytelling, public affairs, leadership, or social impact
• Communicate clearly and work well with others
• Are organized and reliable and can follow through on commitments
• Are comfortable taking initiative and contributing ideas
• Enjoy translating complex ideas into content that people can understand and engage with
• Are interested in learning how educational media is developed and produced

Experience with filming, photography, video editing, podcasting, journalism, social media, or media production is a plus, but it is not required.

More than anything, we are looking for people who are eager to learn, willing to experiment, and excited to help create something meaningful from the ground up.
