Building & Design Resources is a team of “material resource specialists” who have been managing the Interior Design and Architectural Material Libraries for 20+ commercial architectural firms in Boston and in NYC for over 25 years. We are looking for a part-time team member to manage the material libraries for three architectural firms in Boston for 15 - 20 hours per week (typically Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays—occasional Mondays as needed).
Our ideal start time for this new position is the first week in July for initial orientation to the libraries to be managed. For the right candidate, a later start day can be arranged.
Our ideal team member could be an architect, an interior designer, or someone who has experience with commercial building and interior design materials, has worked within the construction industry, familiarity with Architecture & Design industry terminology and application of materials, is highly inquisitive, loves learning and sharing information, and has a passion for sustainability, with knowledge about sustainable building programs (LEED, WELL, LBC, etc), perhaps a Certificate from a Parson’s Healthy Materials Lab course.

Responsibilities include:
- Keep materials well organized and up to date
- Meet with manufacturer representatives regularly
- Schedule informal presentations to introduce design staff to new products and technologies
- Set up displays to show new materials or to feature material categories
- Screen materials for sustainability for both human and environmental health
- Implement BDR’s system for identifying sustainable materials in the libraries
- Project related material research; answer questions regarding materials
- Order samples for projects
- Reshelve materials being returned to the library
- Manage sample returns, including sorting, packing and shipping or arranging for pickup by manufacturer representatives
- Contribute regularly to our online database of Boston A&D reps ()
