Fletcher Maynard Academy is an inclusive, student-centered elementary school serving students from PreK to Grade 5 in the heart of Cambridge. Our school is committed to equity, innovation, and academic excellence. FMA fosters a positive, professional, and collaborative environment where students thrive through strong relationships, engaging instruction, and a whole-child approach. We are proud of our culturally diverse community and work in partnership with families to close opportunity gaps and support every child's success.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and committed STEM educator with strong content and pedagogical knowledge, solid classroom management skills, a deep commitment to educational and racial equity, and experience working in an urban school setting. You will facilitate learning experiences where students engage in hands-on activities, projects, and develop solutions to real world problems through integration of science, computer science, engineering, and more.

While you will work primarily with General Education classrooms, our school prides itself on a full inclusion model.

The ideal candidate is someone who can promote student sense-making as they build their understanding of complex concepts while also ensuring that students with high needs are actively engaged and supported.

Key Responsibilities:

* Facilitate STEM project-based learning experiences aligned to NGSS and the MA State Frameworks.

* Support students in deepening critical thinking, collaboration, and creative skills through exploration, modeling, testing prototypes, and evaluating solutions.

* Create a structured, engaging classroom environment that supports hands-on exploration, maintains clear expectations and routines, and accommodates diverse student needs.

* Incorporate a variety of teaching and assessment strategies to inform and modify instruction.

* Collaborate with other educators and the school and department level to promote alignment between the different student learning experiences.

* Showcase student work through family engagement and community partnerships.

* Attend weekly specialist team meetings with colleagues as assigned.

* Attend regular school and department meetings.

* Perform other duties as assigned by the school principal.

Your Skill Set:

As the incoming STEM Teacher, you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following characteristics and qualifications:

* Teaching experience in the elementary grades with a proven track record of promoting high achievement in the classroom.

* Experience writing lesson plans with clear, attainable learning goals and aligned activities.

* Understanding of the developmental needs of learners and the strategies to meet those needs through the curriculum.

* Strong classroom management skills.

* Knowledge of MA Curriculum Framework for Science.

* Culturally proficient and skilled in culturally responsive teaching.

* Willingness to be trained in the use of STEM curriculum materials.

* Bachelor's degree required;
Masters in Education strongly preferred.

Required Qualifications

* MA Licensure in elementary 1-6, moderate disabilities preK-8, and/or General Science 1-6
