Health & PE Department/Cambridge Rindge & Latin School
Cambridge Rindge & Latin School Community:
Cambridge Rindge & Latin School (CRLS) is a comprehensive high school divided into four Learning Communities designed to promote high levels of learning and achievement for all students. Honors courses are offered in all core classes (English, History, Mathematics, and Science);
Advanced Placement (AP) courses are available to qualified students in grades 11 and 12.
The mission of the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School is to provide a quality education to every student through rigorous, comprehensive, and personalized teaching and learning. Working in partnership with families and the wider community, we maintain a nurturing, respectful, and safe environment where educators and students hold themselves to high standards. We value academic excellence, creativity, diversity, perseverance, collaboration, and responsible decision-making.
Within and across our learning communities, we prepare lifelong learners who participate thoughtfully, responsibly, and productively in a global, democratic society.
Health, Physical Education, and Wellness Department Overview:
The Cambridge Public Schools Health, Physical Education, and Wellness Department is dedicated to creating supportive learning environments where all students are known, celebrated, empowered, and able to thrive. Our students engage in relevant learning experiences that build the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to lead healthy, active lives. These opportunities empower students to explore, create, and advocate for meaningful change at both individual and societal levels.
We also acknowledge the historical marginalization of certain communities, which has led to significant health and educational disparities. In alignment with the district’s mission, our department is committed to:

- Promoting inclusiveness, valuing diversity, and developing a culturally responsive curriculum
Upon completing our program, students will demonstrate competence in a range of areas, including motor skill development, self-efficacy, advocacy, and empowerment. They will be equipped to take ownership of their health and to contribute to the wellness of their communities throughout their lives.
