Summary Description

Buckingham Browne & Nichols School is seeking a full‑time Middle School Science teacher to work closely with a team of science teachers co‑creating, evaluating, and teaching Science 7 (introductory physical science) and Science 8 (introductory chemistry). The BB&N Middle School consists of Grades 7 and 8. We are seeking a knowledgeable Science teacher to teach 3‑4 classes across both grades, who values student voice and agency, and utilizes a variety of pedagogical approaches to facilitating student learning.

Other faculty member responsibilities encompass advising in our co‑curricular advisory program and contributing to current program needs through coaching, supporting the athletic program, and/or potentially the Science Club.

Key Tasks And Responsibilities
  • Planning and developing an engaging, age‑appropriate course of study in the classroom, adhering to educational best practices and curriculum guidelines.
  • Preparing materials for lessons, assignments, and tests; evaluating, correcting, and grading student performance.
  • Supervising the behavior of students in the classroom, school grounds, and educational trips, and discussing academic difficulties or behavioral challenges with students as they arise.
  • Monitoring students’ progress throughout the year.
  • Communicating progress and concerns with tact and professionalism to parents and, as appropriate, other faculty, staff, and/or campus leadership.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with parents, students, and colleagues.
  • Enforcing safety and security standards for students, staff, and visitors.
