Description Of Service Opportunity

Math Olympiad is a program aimed to stimulate enthusiasm and a love for mathematics, introduce mathematical concepts, teach strategies for problem solving, develop mathematical flexibility, strengthen mathematical intuition, foster mathematical creativity and ingenuity, provide the satisfaction, joy and thrill of solving challenges, and develop an appreciation of mathematics.

The Role s And Responsibilities Of The Advisor Are
  • Provide students with problems and opportunities to review solutions.
  • Create and foster relationships with students to ensure each student success.
  • Facilitate during 1 weekly before or after school meeting OR weekly lunch sessions.
  • Maintain open communication with students.
  • Review student thinking and overall student comprehension.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and encouragement for students throughout practice.
  • Administer Math Olympiad (MOEMS) monthly problem‑solving contests in the months November through March.
  • This is a 2 hour per week commitment, with one hour of work with students and one hour of planning.
  • Please note that your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate.
Minimum Requirements

Experience teaching elementary and/or middle school mathematics;
Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college/university; experience dealing with diverse student populations and familiarity working in an urban setting preferred. Priority will be given to regularly appointed teachers from Cambridge Public School District.

Length Of Contract

September 20, 2025 through May 29, 2026

Contract Amount

Not exceed $2760.00

Please note that your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate. If you are a non-exempt employee and have worked more than 40 hours a week, you will be paid time and a half for any hours worked over 40 hours.
