RESEARCH PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR, Sea Grant College Program (MITSG), plays a central role in administering and implementing the operational and administrative functions that support MITSG's research enterprise. Reporting to the Director and working closely with the Assistant Director for Advisory, this position serves as both a strong individual contributor and a leader who guides and mentors the Program Support Group, which includes the Financial Administrator and three administrative assistants;
manages MITSG's competitive funding programs, including the biennial call for research proposals and Program Development funding; and oversees the full lifecycle of these programs-from solicitation and peer review through award management, reporting, and evaluation. The role also coordinates all fellowships and awards, including Knauss, Chryssostomidis, Dean Horn, STREAM, NMFS-Sea Grant, NOAA Coastal Management, Community Engaged Internships, and Massachusetts Sea Grant Graduate Research Fellowships, as well as the junior Doherty Chair award;
leads annual and four-year reporting to the National Sea Grant Office; coordinates the four-year Site Review process; maintains comprehensive records in eSeaGrant, participates in strategic planning, and serves as a key liaison with the National Sea Grant Office and regional Sea Grant partners. MITSG is a federal-institute partnership that brings MIT's research and engineering strengths to bear on critical ocean and coastal challenges.
Funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration through the National Sea Grant College Program, MITSG advances the conservation and sustainable use of marine resources through integrated research, education, and outreach serving Massachusetts and the Northeast region.
