Position: English Learner (EL) Summer Program: ESL Math Teacher Grades 5-8

Description of
Service Opportunity:

The Math teacher will teach English Learners in grades 5-8 in the English Learner Summer Middle School Program. The teacher will instruct students using the Summer math curriculum and the WIDA 2020 ELD Standard. Lessons will be planned using appropriate English language development pedagogy and sheltered immersion methodology.

Work: 25 hours per week

Minimum Requirements:

Requirements:

  • Teacher Certification in Gr. 5-8 Math, ESL preferred
  • The teacher will be skilled in effective instructional strategies for teaching ELLs, English language learning, and Sheltered Immersion methodology. The candidate will be expected to collaborate with colleagues, demonstrate high expectations for English language learners, be effective in working with immigrant families and create a learning environment that fosters mutual respect and cultural sensitivity.

Education:

Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a concentration in teaching math in grades 5-8

Experience:

At least 2 years of experience teaching linguistically diverse students in an urban setting.

Languages:

Proficiency in English and fluency in a language other than English is preferred, but not required.

Length of

Contract:

July 1, 2026 to August 5, 2026

Contract Amount

Not exceed $5500.00

Please note that your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate. If you are a non-exempt employee and have worked more than 40 hours a week, you will be paid time and a half for any hours worked over 40 hours
