Job DescriptionOVERVIEW
Cambridge Rindge and Latin School (CRLS) consists of four learning communities that support the vision of the Cambridge Public Schools (CPS) to provide all students with rigorous, joyful, and culturally responsive learning as well as the social, emotional, and academic supports each student needs to achieve their goals and post secondary success as engaged community members.
With this in mind, CRLS will provide Summer Preview Programs in English Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies for CRLS students who have chosen to take an Honors or Advanced Placement class next school year and have also been identified as part of a population that has historically experienced racial and/or economic marginalization. Program sessions will be offered for a two-week period.
The summer Math Preview Program (MPP) at CRLS focuses on ensuring that students are provided a comprehensive experience that includes:
- Social, emotional, and academic support
- Equitable access to curriculum and opportunities
- A joyful and challenging learning experience
The primary objectives of the MPP experience are to:
Each class will focus on reviewing and reinforcing prerequisite skills as well as previewing the essential content specific skills that will promote a successful start to the school year. Incorporated throughout the course will be studentship skills — taking good notes, staying organized, time management skills, class participation, and self‑advocacy skills. Teachers in this program are expected to employ differentiated instructional strategies for a vast array of academically, linguistically and culturally diverse learners.
Responsibilities- Demonstrate and encourage a growth mindset philosophy and risk‑taking throughout the entire experience
- Deliver the Preview Course during the summer of 2026
Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university;
Massachusetts certification in grade 9‑12 subject matter.
Experience teaching in an urban, multi‑cultural school system with inclusionary practices. Meet NCLB highly qualified teacher requirements.
ContractDuration:
July 1, 2026 through October 1, 2026.
Amount:
Not exceed $2,500.00 (50 hours of work at the Summer School Teacher rate of $50.00 per hour).
Note:
Your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate. If you are a non‑exempt employee and have worked more than 40 hours a week, you will be paid time and a half for any hours worked over 40 hours.
