Embark on a meaningful contract opportunity supporting students' growth and independence as a Life Skills Teacher across grade levels K-5, 6-8, and 9-12. Located conveniently near Cambridge, MA, this dynamic assignment has you empowering learners to develop practical skills that last a lifetime in supportive school environments.
Ideal candidates bring a background in special education or life skills instruction and thrive working with diverse student populations. You'll collaborate with colleagues and tailor your approach to meet the unique needs of each classroom and age group, creating lasting, positive impacts.
Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education or relevant field (state requirement)
- Experience working with students in K-12 settings, especially in Life Skills or inclusion programs
- Skilled in developing individualized learning plans and supporting IEP goals
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom management abilities
- Collaborative attitude and flexibility to adapt to the needs of multiple age groups
- Previous contract or travel assignment experience preferred but not required
- Design and implement engaging Life Skills curriculum for students in elementary, middle, and high school grades
- Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom atmosphere encouraging social, academic, and emotional development
- Develop and track measurable goals, adapting instruction based on student progress
- Work alongside multidisciplinary teams-teachers, aides, and related service providers-to deliver holistic support
- Maintain thorough documentation and communication with families and staff
- Participate in school meetings, trainings, and relevant professional development
- Gain valuable experience across a wide age range and multiple school settings
