Job Description

Position:
Grade 3 Teacher, Two-Way Immersion. Amigos is a comprehensive Pre K–8 school located in the Cambridgeport neighborhood that welcomes students from diverse backgrounds. Two‑way immersion develops high academic achievement, bilingualism, and cultural competencies.

Responsibilities
  • Work cooperatively with grade-level, cluster, and whole‑school teams of teachers, including specialists in ESL, SSL, and Special Education.
  • Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate, academically and linguistically active curriculum that is socially/culturally responsive to the dual‑language student population.
  • Base curriculum on Massachusetts State Frameworks and local Cambridge Learning Expectations for third grade.
  • Work collaboratively with parents and guardians to engage them in classroom activities and school‑wide events.
  • Be a thoughtful, reflective practitioner who demonstrates intellectual curiosity by asking insightful questions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university, including coursework in first and second language acquisition.
  • High levels of native language proficiency in Spanish and English, including listening, speaking, reading, grammar and writing.
  • Familiarity with and appreciation of third‑grade students, their needs, and interests.
  • Previous successful experience working in a multicultural environment and demonstrated implementation of culturally responsive practices that include students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio‑economic backgrounds.
  • Creativity and passion for dual language and anti‑racist teaching.
  • Appropriate Massachusetts Certification:
    Foreign Language Certification 1‑6 (Spanish), Elementary 1‑6.
