OverviewCambridge Public School's Health, Physical Education, and Wellness Department is dedicated to creating supportive learning spaces where all students are known, celebrated, empowered, and thrive. OpportunityThe department seeks an elementary Health and Wellness Teacher to join the team. The teacher will report to the Coordinator of Health, Physical Education, and Wellness and the Lead Teacher for JK‑8 Health and Wellness. The role includes teaching health education in accordance with the National Health Education Standards, Social Justice Standards, CASEL frameworks, and National Sexuality Education Standards. Teachers will also provide direct classroom instruction and set the coordinated school health team to support SEL initiatives.
They will participate in ongoing collaborative work groups that support instructional practices, content knowledge, and strategies to address health disparities.
- Provide direct classroom instruction in health education.
- Lead or co‑lead the coordinated school health team to support SEL initiatives.
- Participate in collaborative work groups focused on instructional practices, content knowledge, and strategies to address health disparities.
- Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s degree preferred. - Experience and/or education in elementary health education, elementary education, or social/emotional learning.
- Successful teaching experience in a diverse urban setting is preferred.
- Massachusetts certification in K-12 Health/Family Consumer Science is required.
- A love for children and a desire to work with elementary‑aged students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with diverse staff, caregivers, and community partners.
- A commitment to the Cambridge Public Schools Health, Physical Education, and Wellness Department values, continuous growth toward antiracist and anti‑bias education.
