The Cambridge Rindge & Latin School (CRLS) is a comprehensive high school divided into four Learning Communities. It offers Honors and Advanced Placement courses and strives to provide a quality, inclusive, and rigorous education to all students. The mission is to create a nurturing, respectful, and safe environment where educators and students hold themselves to high standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide ongoing support, modeling, and consultation with educators, administrators, and staff around culturally and linguistically responsive school practices that support social‑emotional development.
  • Actively participate in a multi‑tiered system of support by administering SEL and/or mental health screeners, analyzing data trends, and collaborating with staff to determine effective interventions and monitor progress.
  • Attend meetings, professional development, and supervision sessions with the Office of Social Emotional Learning to ensure continuous improvement of clinical practice and service delivery.
  • In partnership with school‑based teams, provide evidence‑based social, emotional, and mental health services, including crisis intervention, assessment, individual and group counseling, and referral or collaboration with community providers.
  • Work with students and families to provide psychoeducation, identify resources, and coordinate referrals to external agencies and programs.
  • Support the implementation of Tier 1 SEL curriculum and school wide practices to develop SEL competencies such as self‑awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision‑making.
  • Provide timely assessments to address safety concerns, suicidality, and suspected abuse or neglect.
  • Offer education and professional development for staff to enhance understanding of cultural, societal, and social‑emotional factors that impact student mental health and access to education.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Your Skill Set and Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in social work or mental health counseling from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 3 years of successful social work experience, preferably in a diverse, urban, educational, or therapeutic setting.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to create an inclusive environment that promotes individual growth and positive self‑identity.
  • Effective collaboration and consultation skills with administration, staff, students, families, and stakeholders.
  • Assessment and intervention design skills for complex situations at the individual, small group, and whole school levels.
  • Demonstrated cultural proficiency, humility, self‑awareness, and reflection.
  • Required Massachusetts licensure: DESE School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor and clinical licensure (LCSW, LICSW, or LMHC).
  • Proficiency in a language other than English (preferred).
