Instructional Aide (7 hr/10 months) – Morse School/Office of Student Services
The Morse School serves children and families from every Cambridge neighborhood and over 40 countries. The school nurtures curiosity, intellectual skills, and healthy social and emotional development. Students, teachers, and staff collaborate to foster safety, belonging, civic responsibility, and appreciation for diverse origins, identities, beliefs, and learning styles. The school follows an inclusion model with English learners and students with moderate disabilities learning alongside general education peers with support from special educators, ESL teachers, related service providers, and interventionists.
The Office of Student Services (OSS) provides support and services to students in Cambridge Public Schools, ensuring equitable access and success for students with disabilities and advanced learning needs.
Duties- Assist in the implementation of each student’s Individualized Educational Plan (IEP)
- Provide instruction support for students with disabilities
- Supervise students with disabilities during non‑instructional activities and transitions
- Collaborate with general education, special education, and related services staff
- Accommodate and modify for student learning; support general education teachers with accommodations in the general education setting
- Perform other duties as designated by the special educator or supervisor
- Assist with student toileting, when required by the school
Skills & Qualifications
- Excellent oral communication skills
- Problem‑solving ability
- Experience working with students in urban environments
- Energetic, enthusiastic, patient, and flexible
- Ability to address physical, educational, and social‑emotional needs of students
- Willingness to be trained in de‑escalation and safe physical restraint techniques
- Physical ability to work on the floor and move around the room while supporting students and teachers
- Associate’s degree or 48 college credits from an accredited college or university
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
