Spanish Teacher, Grades 5

Job Description

Fayerweather seeks an energetic, committed Spanish teacher to instruct students in grades 5-8. The role includes teaching Spanish fluency—grammatics, spelling, pronunciation, vocabulary, and composition—and guiding conversational practice. Students will also develop a cultural understanding and appreciation of Spanish‑speaking countries. The teacher will create a supportive, caring classroom environment that promotes positive interaction, collaborative learning, and authentic assessment. The position requires curriculum development focused on real‑world applications, differentiation to meet diverse learner needs, and excellent classroom management.

Curriculum documentation and communication with parents about student progress are expected, along with various duties such as recess coverage, lunch duty, curriculum displays, narrative reports, staff meetings, and admissions programming.

• Teach Spanish fluency and guidance for conversational Spanish.

• Differentiate curriculum to meet individual student needs.
• Maintain excellent classroom management.
• Document curriculum changes throughout the year.
• Communicate regularly with parents about student progress.
• Perform duties such as recess coverage, lunch duty, curricular displays, narrative reports, staff meetings, admissions programming, and other assignments as needed.

• Knowledge of OWL, TPR, TPRS or similar language teaching pedagogies.
• Understanding of progressive education philosophy.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and belonging in an elementary school setting.

• Salary: $62,000 to $85,000 per year
