Pre-School Instructional Aide (7.5 hours/11 months) at Graham & Parks School/Office of Student Services.
Graham & Parks School is a multicultural learning community located in Cambridge, MA. The school fosters equity, antiracism, and inclusion, serving students who speak over 30 languages.
The Office of Student Services (OSS) provides supports to students in Cambridge Public Schools, ensuring equitable access for students with disabilities and advanced learning needs.
The instructional aide reports to and is supervised by a special educator, primarily assisting in implementing each student’s Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).
Key Responsibilities- Assist with instruction for students with disabilities.
- Supervise students with disabilities during non‑instructional activities.
- Supervise students during transitions.
- Collaborate with general education, special education, and related services staff.
- Accommodate and modify for student learning and support the general education teacher with appropriate accommodations in the general education setting.
- Perform related duties as designated by the special educator or supervisor.
- Assist with toileting of students as required of a paraprofessional.
- Excellent oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving ability.
- Experience working with students in urban environments.
- Energetic, enthusiastic, patient, and flexible.
- Assist in addressing the physical, educational, and social‑emotional needs of students.
- Willingness to be trained in de‑escalation and safe physical restraint techniques.
- Physical ability to work on the floor and move around the room supporting students and teachers in curriculum implementation.
Associate’s degree or 48 college credits from an accredited college or university preferred. Previous Montessori training or experience preferred.
