Job Description

Overview: Cambridge Rindge and Latin School (CRLS) offers a Summer Math Preview Program (MPP) for students in Honors or Advanced Placement classes, focusing on engagement, support, and growth mindset.

Program Focus:

  • Social, emotional, and academic support
  • Equitable access to curriculum and opportunities
  • A joyful and challenging learning experience

Primary Objectives:

  • Forge and cultivate strong relationships with peers and teachers
  • Build academic confidence and increase engagement for the school year
  • Demonstrate and encourage a growth mindset, embracing risk-taking and innovation
  • Responsibilities:

    • Employ differentiated instructional strategies for academically, linguistically, and culturally diverse learners
    • Teach prerequisite and preview content for calculus, reinforcing essential skills
    • Model a growth mindset philosophy and encourage risk-taking throughout the program
    • Support students’ note-taking, organization, time management, participation, and self-advocacy skills
    • Facilitate a supportive learning environment during the two‑week program

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
    • Massachusetts teaching certification for grades 9–12 subject matter
    • Experience teaching in an urban, multicultural school system with inclusive practices
    • Meeting NCLB highly qualified teacher requirements
