PEM Program Coordinator
PEM PROGRAM COORDINATOR, School of Engineering - Program for Exemplary Mentoring (PEM), to focus on recruitment, retention, professional development, climate, and community for graduate students from non-traditional backgrounds (including those that are first generation). The PEM Program Coordinator will perform operational and administrative activities for the program within the MIT School of Engineering Dean's Office, from managing the scholar applications process;
planning/staffing events for community building, recruitment & retention; and performing data analysis and reporting for progress updates while managing program budget.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree; a minimum of two years of administrative, operations, and/or project/program management experience; skilled in identifying and addressing systemic barriers to equity in academic institutions; excellent analytical, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; exceptional organizational skills; attention to detail; ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced professional environment; a desire to collaborate with internal and external partners; competency in culturally responsive pedagogy and program design;
ability to work with individuals and groups with a wide array of identity and life experiences; ability to maintain confidentiality, discretion and judgment; be a flexible self-starter who can set priorities, juggling competing demands in a busy, team-oriented environment, including a high level of initiative and ability to make independent judgment with minimal supervision for significant periods of time; and proficiency with software such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Suite, and Survey Monkey.
Staff evening/weekend community building events (2-3 events per month).
This is a 2-year term appointment with possibility of extension based on funding.
