Service Opportunity:
Cambridge Rindge and Latin (CRLS) consists of four learning communities that support the vision of the Cambridge Public Schools (CPS) to provide all students with rigorous, joyful, and culturally responsive learning as well as the social, emotional, and academic supports each student needs to achieve their goals and post secondary success as engaged community members.
With this in mind, CRLS in partnership with The Algebra Project will provide the Cambridge Advanced Study Academy (CASA) for rising 10th grade CPS students, who have chosen to take an Honors Geometry next school year and have also been identified as part of a population that has historically experienced racial and/or economic marginalization.
The CASA program at CRLS focuses on ensuring that students are provided a comprehensive experience that includes:
- Social, emotional, and academic support
- Equitable access to curriculum and opportunities
- A joyful and challenging learning experience
The primary objectives of the CASA experience are to:
The program will run for 4 hours for 4 weeks, and students will focus on reviewing and reinforcing prerequisite skills as well as previewing the essential content specific skills that will promote a successful start to the school year. Incorporated throughout the course will be College Math Literacy Workers who will support students throughout the course. Teachers in this program are expected to employ differentiated instructional strategies for a vast array of academically, linguistically and culturally diverse learners.
This work will take place during the summer of 2026.
Requirements:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university;
Massachusetts certification in grade 9-12 subject matter.
Experience teaching in an urban, multi-cultural school system with inclusionary practices. Meet NCLB highly qualified teacher requirements.
The contract amount shall not exceed $6,000.00 or 120 hours of work at the Summer School Teacher rate of $50.00 per hour.

Please note that your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate. If you are a non-exempt employee and have worked more than 40 hours a week, you will be paid time and a half for any hours worked over 40 hours
